October is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month |

This month-long campaign allows us to celebrate the incredible contributions of medical sonography to modern healthcare. MUAM 2024 is all about the Sonography Squad! This is your time to shine as part of an amazing team of professionals who work together to save and improve lives.
Ultrasound’s role in healthcare has grown exponentially, and its applications now go far beyond pregnancy scans. Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) is used to detect a wide range of conditions across all stages of life. From vascular and cardiac imaging to musculoskeletal and abdominal assessments, sonographers play a vital role in diagnosing and guiding treatment decisions.
This year’s theme, “Sonography Squad,” emphasizes teamwork and the importance of collaboration within the medical field. Whether you’re performing point-of-care ultrasound in an emergency room or working with a team of specialists in a cardiology unit, sonographers are an integral part of the patient care journey.. |

In the 1970s, a historic shift in disability public policy occurred. For the first time, the exclusion of people with disabilities was viewed as discrimination. The efforts of disability activists led to significant changes in laws, such as the passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act in 1990 and the designation of a full month to recognize the potential of America’s millions of working-age people with disabilities.

The decision to make this an annual event each October was endorsed by the Association of London Authorities. It has since grown to recognize and embrace the contributions and traditions of other Black communities.
Canada observes Latin American Heritage Month in October. Proclaimed by the Parliament of Canada on June 21, 2018, this month is an opportunity for Canadians to recognize the valuable contributions of members of the Latin American community to the country’s social, economic, political, and cultural fabric.

He died on October 3, 1226.
